Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Depthue ("we", "us") collects when you use depthue.com and our software, why we collect it, and your choices.
The short version
- Free tools under /tools/ process files on your device. Images, depth maps, STL and 3MF files opened in those tools are not uploaded to us.
- Depthue Studio has optional cloud features. Cloud generation, saved cloud revisions and shared proofs upload the files needed for those operations. See the Studio cloud terms and privacy.
- Our desktop apps run offline. They do not send your images anywhere.
- When you buy, we receive your name, email and order details from our payment provider, to deliver your download and licence.
- We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
When you buy a product. Checkout is provided by Whop, which acts as merchant of record. Whop collects your payment details; we never see or store your full card number. We receive your email address, name, the product, the amount paid and an order identifier, and store them to deliver your download, issue your licence key and provide support. Your download link goes through our site first. Each time it is used we record the time, IP address, approximate location and browser type, so we can confirm delivery and answer a payment dispute.
When you contact us. If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message.
When you use Depthue Studio. Clerk handles sign-in. Cloud features store account identifiers, project metadata, photos, depth fields, recipes, job state, revisions, proof decisions and billing status. Local drafts remain in browser storage, including after sign-out. Anyone using that browser profile may be able to open those drafts. Cloud project-data export and deletion are available in Settings. Retention, proof links and account closure are described in the Studio supplement. We keep a copy of your account email address and first name to send account and getting-started emails.
Email from us. If you bought a product, joined a waiting list or have a Depthue Studio account, we may email you about updates, launches and getting started with Studio. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and mail apps show a one-click unsubscribe button. Unsubscribing stops all of them; receipts and messages about your own orders and account still arrive. To learn which emails are useful, we record whether each one was delivered, opened and which link was clicked, using a small image and redirect links inside the email. We tell automated security scanners apart from people, we do not store your IP address for this, and if your mail app blocks images no open is recorded. We also note whether an order followed a click on one of our emails.
When you browse. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability. We use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and the Whop pixel to measure how the site is used (see Cookies and analytics below). At checkout we also record which page you arrived on and the campaign labels in the link (UTM tags), without identifying you, so we know which pages and guides are useful.
What we do not collect through free tools. Files opened under /tools/ stay on your device. The AI model used by the local depth map generator is downloaded from Hugging Face; your image is not sent with that download request.
How we use information
- To deliver your purchase, licence key and receipt.
- To answer support requests and process refunds.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
- To understand which pages help people, and improve them.
- To send updates and Depthue Studio tips you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
Who processes information for us
- Whop for checkout, payments, refunds and tax calculation.
- Resend to send receipts, support emails and the product emails described above.
- Our hosting and database providers to run the website and store orders.
- Clerk, Vercel, Neon, our private S3-compatible storage provider and Render for optional Studio accounts, projects and cloud processing, as described in the Studio supplement.
- Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and the Whop pixel to measure site usage.
Each processes information only to provide its service to us.
Cookies and analytics
Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use our pages: clicks, scrolling, mouse movement and page views, as session replays and heatmaps. It sets first-party cookies to recognise a returning browser. Clarity masks text you type into form fields, and we use it only to find and fix confusing pages. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Google Analytics records which pages you visit, roughly where you are in the world, and whether a visit ended in a purchase, so we know which guides and tools are worth building on. It sets first-party cookies to recognise a returning browser. We do not send it your name, email or any other detail that identifies you, and we have IP anonymisation on. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out for every site with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
The Whop pixel records page views and checkout events so we can see which pages lead to purchases. Whop processes this data under the Whop Privacy Policy.
First-party storage. Your browser stores the page you first arrived on, the referring site and any campaign labels, in local storage. It holds no identifier and is sent to us only if you start a checkout.
Studio storage and cookies. Clerk uses necessary account-session cookies. Studio saves local drafts and templates in IndexedDB. Our workspace, sign-in and customer-proof pages do not load marketing tracking scripts on a fresh page load. Blocking session cookies can prevent cloud sign-in; local editing and free tools remain available.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Free browser tools work without account cookies. Browser tracking protection and content blockers also stop marketing scripts from loading.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as needed to support your licence and meet accounting and tax rules. Support emails are kept while they are useful for helping you. You can ask us to delete information we are not required to keep.
Your choices and rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@depthue.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
Depthue is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
